Ozone flux

The group focuses on the assessment of ozone flux into forest ecosystems. We aim at applying the DO3SE model for Level II plots across Europe. The analyses are embedded in a broader evaluation and publication concept on ozone risk assessment across Europe. For detailed info, see EP Ambient Air Quality.

Hello Ruediger,

In principle, I agree on your interpretation of DO3SE. So far, I am not applying DO3SE in more debth. However, as you may know from literature, the model developer is L. Emberson. Also N. Grulke (USA; stomatal sluggishness) or R. Matyssek, may be interesting partners to discuss your comments with. I hope this helps.

Hi there,

I am looking on ozone damages from the viewpoint of BVOC that contribute to ozone formation but may also serve to detoxify ozone within the leaves.

As far as I know, the DO3SE model calculates ozone uptake by estimating stomata conductance in a muliplicative approach. I expect that damage is then estimated by just a linear relationship (probably with a threshold) and that damage is expressed as photosynthesis decline only - correct? This seems the literature standard now.

However, this means that long-term effects of ozone impact on stomata as well as induced defences are not considered. I feel that there is a lot room for further developments. Anybody working on this?
