From October 4^th to 6^th the Meeting of the Expert panel on Meteorology and Phenology was held at the Austrian Federal Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape (BFW). Subsequently, a workshop for the preparation of a new manual part on leaf area measurements (LAI) was organised from 6^th to 7^th. In both meetings 20 participants from 10 countries participated.

During the Expert Panel meeting the new co-chairwoman Ursa Vilhar was introduced, some aspects of the new manual and of the water budget modelling as well as on data evaluations and quality assurance were discussed. A field course on phenological autumn phases was done during a one day excursion to the “Wiener Wald”. Documents of the meeting are here.

At the LAI workshop experiences with LAI measurements during the FutMon project were exchanged and the main features of a new manual part on LAI measurements were discussed. A core group of LAI experts was set up to draft the manual. Documents of the workshop are here.
