Event Description
The Forest Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is celebrating its 90th anniversary and is organizing international scientific conference. The event in scheduled for October 24-26, 2018 and aims at bringing together leading scientists, international experts, and government representatives to network and share the latest research, programs and policies in the field of forestry and environmental studies. The objective of the conference is to present international and local experience on theoretical and scientifically applied investigations in forest ecosystems and the social well-being.

The conference was attended by more than 120 scientists, international experts, leading specialists and representatives of various Bulgarian and international institutions who shared experience and knowledge, and discussed on projects in the field of forestry, ecology and ecosystem research. About 40 participants from Asia (Azerbaijan, India, Iran, South Korea), North America (Canada) and Europe (England, Germany, Greece, Estonia, Italy, Spain, Macedonia, Portugal, Russia, Serbia , Turkey, Hungary, France, Switzerland, etc.) as well as 35 young scientists - students, PhD students and post-docs presented their research projects at the conference. The scientific sessions were organized as follows::
T1. Forestry Engineering, Ecosystem Management and Natural resources Policy;
T2. Forests, Soil and Water Interactions;
T3. Forests, Climate Change and Risk Processes;
T4. Silviculture and Forest Genetic Resources Management;
T5. Biodiversity, Forest Health and Biological Invasions;
T6. Ecosystem Services, Monitoring and Interdisciplinary Research.
All abstracts have been published and the Book of Abstracts is also available online at https://fri.bas.bg/wp-content/uploads/Book-of-abstracts.pdf and the Proceedings papers at https://fri.bas.bg/wp-content/uploads/Proceeding-90-Years-FRI.pdf.Full-text papers of selected manuscripts will be published in the scientific journals Silva Balcanica and Forest Science.
