I sent this message by e-mail, but since some mails bounce back I use this to make sure everyone has this:
Dear Colleagues
The hotel where we have the meeting would like to know how many are taking part on just the first day and how many also during the second day (total of 1.5 days), to be able to write the invoices for the conference fee (so that you have a document for the fee).
So if you are taking part also in the "author meeting" in 21 March could you let me know straight away. Others do not need to reply, and those not replying are presumed to take part only on Monday 20 March (and naturally need to pay only for that part).
Just to remind: the "author meeting" is intended to those that are authors in the coming "Forest monitoring methods" book.
With all the best
Pasi

Everybody is expected to pay his/her own dinner. In case you want to take part but your name is not on the list, let me know so that we can book enough tables.
I am afraid I cannot attend, but I am interested in the data evaluation. Particularly the deposition trends as we have already performed these analyses for the UK.
Dear Colleagues
We finally have the final number of participants in the Helsinki ”Data evaluation” meeting. The number of interested (44) is pleasingly large, but unfortunately a bit too large for the meeting rooms in Metla, hence we have the meeting in a hotel in the centre of Helsinki. The good news about this is that we can find a bit cheaper hotel there, but the bad news is that we have to pay for the meeting facilities.
The “data evaluation meeting” takes place on 20 March (Tuesday) from 9:00 to 18:30. Thus, at least those having short trip have the possibility to arrive early in the morning and leave in the evening. In case you want to overnight in the hotel where the meeting is, either before and/or after the meeting, you can book a room for 1 or 2 nights by sending e-mail (latest by 5th March) to:
and give a reference “METLA”, which will give you a special prize (95 euros for one person, or 115 euros for two persons). The conference fee (incl. meeting room with broadband, 2xcoffee + snacks and 1 lunch) is 47.50 for Tuesday 20th March (incl. 5 eur processing charge).
If you want to take part in the dinner on Tuesday evening (at own expense) please send me an e-mail (pasi.rautio@metla.fi) within two weeks from now so that we know to reserve enough tables.
Those that take part in the “Monitoring book meeting” on 21 March should be prepared to stay until 12:00 on Wednesday (21st March). The conference fee for 21st (incl. with broadband and 1xcoffee with snacks) is 26 eur (incl. 5 eur processing charge).
The meeting place (Hotel Arthur, Vuorikatu 19, Helsinki) is in the centre of Helsinki, so there are also lots of other hotels nearby to choose from. Any hotel close to the Helsinki Central Railway station / City bus terminal is also close to the meeting place. Available hotels can be searched e.g. here:

or

Hope to see you in Helsinki
On behalf of the organizers

I'm hoping to discuss the possibility of using biotic damage information together with defoliation data in a publication about defoliators of oak. Also I'll represent Denmark and especially my colleagues Lars V and Morten I in relation to other subjects.
I think I'll be able to participate, possibly qith a collaborator. I'll attend also the eventual Monitoring book meeting
