Leaf area is the largest part of a forest's surface and the only exchange surface for transpiration, photochemical light absorption and assimilation. Numerous ways exist to assess the total leaf area of a forest and only a few of them are standard in the actual version of the ICP-Forests manual that can be found here:Chapter17_LAI.pdf . Please feel free to add any discussion on LAI measurement methods and experiences with the manual in the windows below. Attention to the most important aspects will be given on the
Expert Panel Meeting on Meteorology, Phenology, and Leaf Area Index
in spring 2013.
Data submission for 2011 just started and will include the first LAI data submission with the newly developed forms. Please indicate any problems or ideas with respect to the forms in this…Continue

Dear colleagues,
I attach a first draft for the plausibility_ranges1.xls. Please feel free to add changes if necessary.
Best regards
Stefan
Dear Stefan and experts,
I just received a commenjt from the data base people preparing the new submission module. until now there are no quality checks implemented. So what we would urgently need is a list of tests, e.g. starting with range tests that we could automatically run. What are the min and max values that we should accept for each of the cells ? you can as well divide into warnings - implausible values that partners can, however, confirm - and errors - that make submission impossible.
Can you produce a list of checks?
