Information

Ozone visible symptoms

The group focuses on the evaluation of tropospheric ozone effects in terms of ozone visible symptoms (see ICP Forests Manual Part VIII). We investigating temporal and spatial trends of injury occurrence in relation to ambient ozone concentrations. The analyses of Level II data from the last 16 years are embedded in a broader evaluation and publication concept on ozone risk assessment across Europe. For more detailed info, see EP Ambient Air Quality.

The 2017 EP Meeting & Intercalibration Course on Ozone Symptom Assessment takes place in Trento, Italy on 28-31 August 2017.

Dear colleagues,

I would like to introduce the new online tool for ozone symptom validation, called OSVALD, the Ozone Symptom VALidation Database.

http://appmeteo.fmach.it/osvald/index.php

OSVALD can help you with the ozone symptom validation! If you have doubts about ozone-like visible symptoms which you found in the field, you can simply take a picture of it and upload it to OSVALD. The ozone-like symptoms shown on your picture will then be checked and validated by experts and you will recieve a respective feedback.

If you are interested in getting to know OSVALD, please send me an e-mail (elena.gottardini@fmach.it) and you will receive username and password to access OSVALD.

I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes,

Elena

Dear colleagues,
A pilot study has been recently launched to verify the responsiveness of native Viburnum lantana plants to ozone exposure at European scale. The study intends to collect data to verify the feasibility and applicability of a bio-indicator approach in assessing ozone impact on vegetation, based on the evaluation of well-known ozone-sensitive species.
If you are interested in participating in this initiative, please contact me and I will send you all information.

Best regards,

Elena
