UNECE Air Convention reports available online

Dear colleagues,

having attended the 3rd Joint Session of the Working Group on Effects (WGE) and the Steering Body to EMEP from 11-15 September 2017 at Geneva, I want to point to the fact that all basic documents for that meeting are available at the UNECE website. Of relevance for the ICP Forests community is especially the "2017 joint progress report on policy-relevant scientific findings" (ECE/EB.AIR/GE.1/2017/3-ECE/EB.AIR/WG.12017/3) and the "Progress report by the Programme…

Dear Walter,

I feel very bad that I have not answered your bid during this period, in relation for any initiative to forest monitoring. As I have indicated earlier, there is not in function the Forest and Pasture Research Institute. Some foresters are included in the National Environment Agency, what it means little to the requirements of the time, and especially to your requirements regarding any initiative on forest monitoring. I have discussed this offer to do something. I believe that next year we will give our contribution through the Institute of Geosciences, Energy, Water and Environment, where I work.

We will be in touch time by time until Decemer of this year. Sincerely, Bashkim

Dear Walter,

During this time I met with some of my colleagues, where we discussed and for your proposal. The fact is that when it is closed the Forest Research Institute of Pastures, perhaps earlier in relation to the monitoring of forests not done anything concrete! I say with responsibility and regret for this situation created. If you get data for some time after this change they may have been fires fallen in forests and pastures, or any relevant supporting evidence, because the staff of the Department of Forest Protection with the relevant specialists who planned, designed, up and pointed in function the forest monitoring networks were dismissed and were employed in other jobs. It is not normal that the director of the National Environmental Agency to leave his address with the denomination: the Research Institute for Forest and Pasture when the institution is closed since 2005, within the framework of reforming ite research institutions. For me it was an underestimation of the hustle of forests and pastures, that occupy about 50 percent of the surface area of the country. We think to rehabilitate network / monitoring networks, initially, and then day by day, step by step to think of the work to be part of ICP Forest, not with words but with real actions with project. With high consideration, sincerely, Bashkim Mal Lushaj

Dear Dr. Walter Seidling,

Thanks a lot for your message and in near days we will send to you the initiative for our country, concerning forest Monitoring. Before was Forest and Pasture Reserch Institute, now no, and for forest Monitoring is not done anything for one period about 10-12 years. I am so sorry, but this is a situation in fact for forest Monitoring.

Have a nice time!

Sincerely,

Bashkim
